Batù Barbaresco DOCG 2017

“Austere. He was dressed in a rough robe that was considered sacred, his head was bowed and the posture upright during the religious procession. The Batù, lay people belonging to the eponymous confraternity”.

Batù is an ethereal and mysteriously charming Barbaresco 2016, aged at least 24 months. The color is a ruby red color with garnet reflections. The bouquet is intense and spicy, evolving from dry rose, dried cherry, and raspberry, to explosive notes of cinnamon, clove, allspice, and tobacco, with hints of vanilla and a whiff of cedar in the finish. The flavor is vigorous, complex yet delicate, with beautiful balance, extremely well-integrated tannins and supple edges.

In 2017, Piedmontese winemakers couldn’t sleep firstly because of the spring frosts, and secondly because of a hot, dry summer, with almost no rain. The harvest was the earliest in Piedmont for ten years, and the yields were very low. However, the results were surprisingly outstanding. Barbaresco 2017 are rich, fresh, fruity, succulent, and boldly flavored. They highlights the notes of orange peel, tart, red fruit, and herbs.
