Harvest 2024 at Cantine Povero
A few weeks ago we finished the 2024 harvest.
We witnessed a classic harvest, which started about 10 days later than last year, and not earlier than average like those of the previous decade.
The plentiful spring rains gave us an abundant water reserve, which revived our vines, especially the younger ones.
After the long water stress due to the drought of the last 2 years, the vineyards are back to being lush, with beautiful bright green leaves.
These rains made the vines more vulnerable to diseases such as downy mildew and powdery mildew, a difficult challenge in our organic vineyards.
However, cover crops and organic treatments with orange peel and herbs helped us obtain healthy and beautiful grapes.
The heat of late July and August led to a correct ripening of the grapes and the high temperature ranges of late August were favorable, especially for the red wines.
The red wines are still fermenting, while the white wines rest on the fine lees to have structure.
The first wines to be released will be Langhe Favorita and Roero Arneis from Tenuta Laramè.
