Santa Lucrezia Cisterna d’Asti DOC Superiore 2018
€10,80
Description
Known in our territory as “Bonarda di Cisterna d’Asti”, Croatina has been popular in Cisterna d’Asti since immemorial times: its cultivation has been documented here for over 200 years. In some of the most ancient vineyards, you can still find almost one-hundred years old ungrafted vines of Croatina.
Santa Lucrezia comes from the first organic vineyards of the Povero family to obtain organic certification in 1998. On the hills between Cisterna d’Asti and Canale d’Alba, Croatina has found its ideal habitat.
Santa Lucrezia has an intense ruby red color with garnet reflections. In addition to the peculiar note of green peduncle, hints of raspberry, strawberry, dried rose and blueberry juice stand out. On a second sip, you can distinguish woody tracts of resin and soil, and spicy and balsamic tracts such as black pepper and camphor. The palate is rich and well-balanced, with a slight tendency to semi-sweetness, good freshness, and a dense tannic texture, which is well-integrated into the structure. The long, slightly bitter finish has an intense note of almond.
2018 has been a balanced vintage with healthy, ripe grapes. The wine is soft, balanced, and pleasant, with a natural freshness that makes it easy to drink, even for those new to important red wines.
