The warm weather of 2016 gave to our Barbera an excellent sugar level, balanced by the great acidity, typical of Barbera. Hot temperatures in the last weeks of september were crucial for the elements responsible of the structure such as phenolic components. This Barbera d’ Alba has an outstanding structure and a bouquet with an amazing spiciness with notes of nutmeg and incense.

The 2017 vintage growing year, hot and dry, will be remembered for its full-bodied, long-lasting and intense wines.
The winter was mild, with only a few snowfalls, while spring was marked by some rain and above-average temperatures. This further facilitated the vine’s vegetative development, which was ahead of time. Towards the end of April, the sharp drop in temperatures recorded - especially overnight - throughout Italy caused some frost damage.
The maximum temperatures recorded during the summer months were above average, just as they were in the whole of Italy, but the nights were cooler than in other hot years.
Between the end of August and the beginning of September, thanks to the first rainfalls, temperatures dropped appreciably, with considerable differences between day and night temperatures. This situation was very positive for the polyphenolic profile of the red wine grapes with a medium-long vegetative cycle, such as Nebbiolo and Barbera.
The good maturation leaded to high alcohol content, a good Ph level and low total acidity.
The harvest started 2 weeks earlier, with a standard duration and a lower yield (about – 30%).

Our "DIANAE - BARBERA D'ASTI DOCG 2016" was considered to be the third best beverage product of the Fair, with 3 stars Bellavita and a score of 9.0:
